From Jutta, Feb.16, 2025: The behavior of the two rec staff on Feb.12 was so astonishingly bad that I was thrown off; I couldn't believe it was happening. Since Jordan blocked my car from leaving and Justin refused to move his car (until finally directed to do so by their supervisor Adam Tyzler), plus they both yelled at me and mocked me etc., it’s a wonder that I didn't shove them out of the way to get away from them. But I did no such thing. If I had, they wouldn't have had to lie to the police.
But as it was, they did lie. The trespass order as relayed to me by police (not in written form) was based on one of those young men's assertion that I had "shoved" him.
The officers also said that I must not enter the building because I make the rec staff uncomfortable. That is surely true, because I have said the rink staff are idle most of the time, that's how the place is run. And I’ve said that management hasn't managed to run an orderly skate rental nor a snack bar that works. Not a pleasant thing for them to hear.
Councillor Bravo’s assistant writes that they want the city to hire a community mediation expert for a public meeting. I prefer for people to speak to each other directly as soon as something happens. This is not the current practice at Parks and Rec. On Jan.22 I sent an email to Adam, cc-ing his supervisor and his manager, describing the harassment I was getting from Jordan, and he said he would follow up, but there was no change. On Feb.7, I asked Michelle Siriani, Adam’s supervisor, to meet as soon as possible, because the situation was getting worse. She said she didn’t have time to talk until Feb.11. (Correspondence thread). When we met that day (resolving nothing), I asked her if a few of us could meet with her and the part-time rink staff to talk about what was happening. She said she could not agree to such a meeting.
And then at 10 the next morning, while Adam was still in transit from home, Justin and Jordan found a chance to harass me outside the building, when there were no witnesses around. They could not have done it inside, with skaters there.
Instead of getting all the parties together then, Parks and Rec contacted the police, and laid out the case for an immediate trespass order to be put in place.
At some unspecified point, the director of management services will send someone to talk to me. This will have to happen face to face (I don’t do virtual), but of course it can’t be inside the building, since I am banned from there. My suggestion is that the conversation should happen outside of the building at the spot where I had parked my car – a chance to give Parks and Rec’s inquiry a context in reality. I think that this will be an occasion when a few park friends need to be there as observers.
