On behalf of Councillor Bravo and our office, thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns about this matter. We appreciate hearing your perspective.

After learning of an incident at Dufferin Grove Park on Wednesday involving a community member and City of Toronto Parks and Recreation staff, we immediately reached out to the City Division. We have been informed that an investigation has been initiated into the incident, including a workplace investigation and Toronto Police response. Councillors are not able to interfere in an active workplace investigation, or in a legal complaint. Information about this investigation is confidential, and this area is beyond our office’s jurisdiction.

Councillor Bravo understands that many members of the Dufferin Grove community are concerned, and that a number have requested a community meeting to discuss the use of the rink and Clubhouse, as well as opportunities to build community and foster a positive, collaborative environment for all. Councillor Bravo agrees that this would be a good way to proceed.

Our office is currently looking into possible dates for this meeting, and has requested resources from the City to hire an independent third party with community mediation expertise to facilitate an open and inclusive process. We will share information about next steps for moving ahead with this community process as it becomes available, though we must wait for the conclusion of the investigation.

We look forward to a facilitated discussion regarding access, engagement, and community participation for Dufferin Grove’s amenities and its future.
