Centre For Local Research into Public Space (CELOS)
Dear Friends and Neighbours,
Do you skate at Greenwood Park? A community-led group called “CityRinks” advocates for the improvement of Toronto’s outdoor rinks. The city Ombudsman has asked CityRinks to solicit input about what works well and what could be better. While better-laid mats and cleaner washrooms at Greenwood would be nice…other neighbourhoods have transformed their rink houses into Community Winter Clubhouses with snack bars, ample indoor and outdoor seating, a cozy atmosphere, games and books for kids, etc. (Visit Dufferin Grove Park’s rink house and see for yourself!)
Where to start?
A) Read the 2 documents attached. The 1st is City Rinks’ call to action notice. The 2nd is the profile and report card of Greenwood Park’s rink posted on www.cityrinks.ca.
B) Send input to mail@cityrinks.ca or 416-533-0153
C) Pass on this email to neighbours.
D) Visit www.cityrinks.ca and learn more about Toronto’s 49 outdoor compressor-cooled ice rinks-a precious resource!
