Dear Howie,
You may remember some emails about a Dufferin Grove park bake oven issue you helped with in 2022. This is about a different issue -- the rec PT hiring practices. I'm forwarding you an email I sent to three members of the ECD committee this morning.
I think we should talk. Would you have time for a phone call later this week?
And if you feel like reviewing your comments that I transcribed at the July 4 ECDC meeting, please see the attachment.

Hi Ms. Mason (Jutta);
Thanks for the email and I for sure recall our previous correspondence. Thanks for sending the transcript from ECDC. My schedule is fairly full this week, however Marinel from my office can work to find us a time for a brief call if that would be agreeable. I would recommend we also include Cathy Vincelli, as she has direct responsibility for the hiring of Recreation Workers, and can give some perspective on this.
If a more in depth meeting is needed-I would suggest you and Cathy have that connect and we can certainly follow up at a later date.

Hi Howie, There was already a meeting with Cathy and her staff. However some things that we heard at that meeting re staffing have changed since then. Let's have the very short phone call. I'm very curious to know how and when you will quickly put together the missing hiring "metrics" you were asked for by Councillor Fletcher. Part of my curiosity is because my August newsletter will include some information on the problems of staffing.
By the way, the renewed interest at the ECDC meeting differentiating the work of rec and AOCCs, seems to suggest a desire by some councillors to strengthen a different model, not PFR. I've just found an interview I did with former P&R commissioner Herb Pirk, about how the AOCCs got started, under his watch. I've attached it here, in case you're interested.

Thanks Jutta- marinel will find us a few minutes. I knew Herb. Followed him for many years. I’ll review the interview. Thanks for sharing.
