On Thursday August 7, 2008 Laveau pleaded guilty to two counts of theft under $5,000 and to possessing burglar tools. Justice Brent Knazan sentenced him to 60 days in jail minus the 23 days he spent in pre-trial custody. For the purposes of sentencing, a day in pre-trial custody equals two days of jail. 60 days minus 46 days (23 X 2) equals 14 days. Outside the courtroom, Laveau's lawyer, Mitch Engel, said Laveau will likely be released after 2/3 of his sentence has been served which equals 9 days.
In the early evening on Thursday May 29, five police cars and a motorcycle were parked in the middle of the park, as police arrested several youths (?) for robbery at Dufferin Mall across the street.
In order to follow these arrests, a CELOS researcher went to bail court at 311 Jarvis Street on Friday May 30. There were a number of youth who sought bail for stealing a wristwatch or ipod, but none seemed to be the youth arrested at the park. Then on Monday, a youth was led in whose details fit the description.
