This barbecue and ribbon-cutting ceremony is a celebration of many months of hard work by a group of very dedicated of people who undertook to replace the playground equipment, which had been removed from Brittany because of safety issues.

One of the major fundraising projects they organized involved a commemorative quilt with the names of contributors embroidered on stars. The quilt, which was designed by Shirley Peterson whose grandchildren go to MacMillan School, will be on display at the barbecue.

According to organizer Erica Reichling, many other activities have been planned to add to the festivities, such as face painting, a dunk tank, a hoop shoot, bouncy castles, and gladiators and pirate activities. The purchase of a $5 wrist band can provide youngsters with unlimited fun. In addition, food can be purchased at the barbecue and there will also be a giant celebration cake.
