Dear Parks Committee
1. Just checking for our public space web site: am I right that the park levies by-law http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2007/pe/bgrd/backgroundfile-8852.pdf has not been enacted, i.e. that the deadline (see quote below) has passed? If so, what happens now?
From: Alternative Parkland Dedication By-law. Staff Report: Nov.14 2007
"This report is time sensitive. The policies of the new Official Plan that allow the use of the alternative parkland dedication rate commencing in 2008 require enactment of an Alternative Parkland Dedication By-law before the end of 2007."
2. When I did my research, Park levies funds were not used as defined below. Will the use of park levies funds be changed now to fit the requirements?
Section 3.2.3.5 of the Official Plan policy:
any payment of cash-in-lieu of land to be conveyed through the alternative rate provision in excess of 5 per cent of the site area will be used to acquire parkland that is accessible to the area in which the development is located or to improve parks in the vicinity of the development
