We’ve set up a modest ‘family corner’ in the Greenwood Park rink house this season as part of promote a regular drop-in skate Monday mornings 10:30-12:30.
We’ve got:
Please participate, and share ideas
Family Corner kicked off today with the delivery of supplies from CELOS staff at Dufferin Grove Park. Jutta put our brand new table together and stools were set up around it. Books and toys were laid out while cookies, coffee and hot chocolate (marshmallows optional) were prepared. After the setup, everyone laced up for a skate! Kaya, Livia, and Jasmine had a blast skating around, sometimes with the help of “skate supports” and sometimes not. For the littlest kids, or those less interested in skating, there was the warm rink house with toys, crayons and cookies! The day was a great success. Greenwood’s building attendant Elaine allowed us to store our supplies in the office. This means the set up for next weeks family corner will be a breeze!
Family Corner will run every Monday from 10am until 1pm for the remainder of the rink season. Come one come all!
Brrrrrr! It was a chilly Family Corner this week. It is a good thing there was warm hot chocolate and coffee! Kaya, Joey and Jasmine didn’t seem to mind the weather one bit. Joey had a blast on his bob skates, while Jasmine chased a hockey puck around, and Kaya enjoyed a solo seat on the fastest stool ride around (thanks Dad). The only thing that could have made the morning more fun would have been music. Alas, the speakers around the rink pad have been disconnected. Elaine remembers skating to music at Greenwood almost 25 years ago, and we wonder what happened?
Land Surveyors also braved the cold. They were mapping the rinks for the upcoming 2.5 million dollar rink house renovation. We wonder if new speakers would make the cut? Family Corner will run again next Monday Dec 20th. Please come on down for a holiday skate and a warm cup of cocoa!
