THE BISHOP TUTU COMMUNITY GARDEN

posted April 17, 2007

What could be better than a sunny afternoon in the garden, picking fresh cucumbers and tomatoes to eat with food cooked in the open air, and sharing it with friends and family?

The Bishop Tutu Community Garden was born in 2006 and we're hoping it will help create this vision of a healthy neighbourhood. See photos of our progress so far.

Since our community's courtyard (and garden) is situated over our underground garage, gardening here has been a challenge. Battling the pink patio bricks and cement has been a worthwhile endeavour -- I think we're gaining some ground. See our latest greening projects.

Our raised garden

Thanks to the indispensable help of our supporters, this community garden is open to all residents in our area, but caters specifically to our Toronto Community Housing buildings, here at the foot of Bathurst St. near the lake.

We want to improve each other's lives through the experience of nature, eating delicious, healthy food, and enjoying the company of our neighbours. Want to join us?

This is a new parkcommons.ca website
