July 26 - Campbell Park Confrontation

In general, Campbell Park has been peaceful during the civic strike, but there have been some minor confrontations between people dropping off garbage on the one hand and picketers, residents and city managers on the other. Below are pictures taken during one of those confrontations.

Campbell dump's normal operating hours are 7am-7pm. However, on Monday July 26 it was closed for an hour in the afternoon while a truck pumped out dirty water that had accumulated in the rink where the garbage is being stored.

At 3:30pm a man arrived with three bags of garbage. A manager (yellow shirt). a security guard (yellow vest) and a 416 picketer (black shirt, white hat) told him he would have to come back in a little while when the dump re-opened. The man insisted on leaving the garbage at the dump entrance. There was an argument.

Another 416 picketer (red cap, red and white shirt) came over, picked up the garbage bags and put them back in the man's van. There was more arguing before the man, clearly frustrated, left. The whole incident took about ten minutes.
