Pelmo School Playground

This playground is 50 meters from the Pelmo Park playground, beside a primary school. The wood chip surface under the structure has many plants growing on it, and there's a lot of rust. The paint is blistering off and there's no evidence of remedial maintenance. However, the red slide is evidently new, and there's a soft piece of rubber matting at the bottom of each of the four slides.

The structure is solid, but the rust is depressing. There's a faded message on the side of the senior section, "say no to drugs." But the real message the kids are getting is that adults don't look after maintenance.

There are no swings; probably a school policy for safety. Certainly the structure is very safe, in that even the senior section was easy for a three-year-old to master in 20 minutes -- except for the wobbly tires and the high-level monkey bars. Two pre-teen kids were trying various ways to make the structure more challenging by walking on top of the tubes, and filming each other on their i-phones.
