Summary of the Parking issue

Lerette Manor

posted March 08, 2007

Lerette Manor (250 12th Street, Toronto, Ontario) has a parking problem. Lerette Manor is a senior citizens' building operated by the Toronto Community Housing Corporation. For at least ten years (as admitted in correspondence by City Councillor Mark Grimes' office) there has been a shortage of street parking, which is getting worse as the area attracts more and more housing. Yet there's lots of street space for more parking spaces, marked as illegal parking for no good reason that we can see.

We (Jutta Mason and Henrik Bechmann) the "children" of one of Lerette Manor's tenants (Heidi Bechmann) have decided to try to get this problem resolved.

You can help.

So far, we have contacted the Toronto Community Housing Corporation, Councillor Grimes' office, the Etobicoke Community Council, Lerette Manor staff and the City of Toronto. For all the correspondence in order, see the Correspondence compilation page.

What's happened? Nothing yet. But we want to keep up the pressure, partly by keeping everyone informed of what's happening.

If you have any information or time to share, please email lerettemanor@communitycommons.ca.
