Welcome to the Heydon Park Residents Association

Police stations should be built “…in commercial or light industrial areas or on major thoroughfares.”
Michael Ellis, Manager of Facilities Management, Toronto Police Services

We're a group of residents who live near Heydon Park School in the Dovercourt/Dundas area. The TDSB plans to sell Heydon Park to the city so that the police can knock the school down and build a new 14 division. We're opposed to that sale. We think busy police stations shouldn't be built in residential neighbourhoods - and in fact, they're not (read on)...

Here's what our neighbourhood looks like:

It's in to this quiet neighbourhood the Toronto Police want to put the city's second busiest police station - a new 14 Division

Some statistics about the current 14 Division:

14 Division is the 2nd busiest police station in Toronto (out of 17).
14 Division is the busiest downtown police station (out of 9).
14 Division fields more calls than any station in the downtown area.
14 Division has the 2nd most officers in the city (over 300).

Of the the 17 Police Stations in Toronto, not one is located in a residential area, surrounded by houses on 4 sides. We think the police should keep it this way, and choose another site for their station. We think the TDSB shouldn't sell their building to the police.

Here is some information and pictures of other police stations

We've had a number of stories in the media
